The complete guide

Choosing a size

The rectangular tables here are 120 cm by 70 cm (the Andora) or 160 cm by 90 cm (the Chiswell, Vera and Rosebank). The round tables are 90 cm across (the Bianca) and 110 cm (the Nelson), and the Belgium is an 80 cm square. Every one stands between 74 cm and 76 cm high, which is standard dining height. The table is only part of the space it needs: allow room behind every chair for somebody to pull it out and stand up.

Round, square or rectangular

A round table has no corners to walk into and nobody sits at the end, which suits a small or square room and makes conversation easier. A rectangular table fits a long room and puts more people along its sides. A small square table sits neatly against a wall or in a corner when it is not in use, and pulls out when it is.

Glass tops, and what sits underneath

Three of these have glass tops: the Andora, in clear glass with a black border on a chrome frame; the Chiswell, glass on an oak-effect base with a chrome tube; and the round Nelson, glass on brushed stainless steel legs. A glass top keeps a room feeling open because the floor stays visible beneath it. The others have solid tops — the Vera in light grey high gloss on chrome, the Bianca in white on chrome legs, the Rosebank a marble-effect top on a stainless steel base, and the Belgium on solid beech legs.

Looking after the top

Clean a glass top with a glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth rather than onto the table, which keeps liquid out of the joint where the glass meets the frame. Wipe gloss and marble-effect tops with a soft damp cloth and dry them. Use mats under hot dishes and coasters under drinks on any top, and keep abrasive cleaners away from chrome and brushed steel.

Common questions

We’re here to help

Answers to common questions about dining tables.

Ask us a question

Do you have round dining tables?

Two: the Bianca, 90 cm across in white on chrome legs, and the Nelson, 110 cm across with a glass top on brushed stainless steel legs.

Do you have glass dining tables?

Yes — the Andora, the Chiswell and the round Nelson all have glass tops. Each product page describes the base.

What size dining table do I need?

Start with the room, not the table: allow space behind every chair to pull it out and stand. Tables here run from an 80 cm square to 160 cm by 90 cm, and every product page gives the assembled size.

Do dining tables come with chairs?

No. The tables on this page are sold on their own, and dining chairs are sold separately. If you want a table and chairs together, see Dining Sets.

Do dining tables need assembling?

Yes. Every table here is delivered flat-packed for home assembly, and each product page gives the number of cartons and the weight of the heaviest.
