Chests of Drawers

These run from a compact 64 cm Bardalona to the 170 cm Haldon, and from three drawers to twelve. Width decides how much you can store; depth decides how far into the room the drawers reach when they are open.

How many drawers?

The Arctic White has three drawers and the Bardalona four. The Corona Wide has six and the Corona Merchant nine, and the Haldon has twelve equal drawers in three rows across a 170 cm width — the most separated storage in a single piece here. Two chests come in more than one layout: the Mapleton as a 2+2 or a 2+3, four or five drawers in total, and the Acorn as a 3+2 or a 4+3, five or seven. The photographs on each page show the arrangement.

Width, depth and the space in front

Widths run from 64 cm to 170 cm and depths from 39 cm to 48 cm. A drawer pulls out roughly as far as the chest is deep, so allow at least that much clear floor in front — more if you want to kneel at an open bottom drawer — and check the swing of any nearby door or wardrobe.

Low and wide, or tall

Heights run from 69 cm to 105 cm. A low, wide chest doubles as a surface for a mirror or a lamp; the Acorn, at 105 cm tall and 95 cm wide, puts more storage on a footprint under a metre across.

Delivery and assembly

Some arrive fully assembled — the Acorn solid oak chest among them — and others are flat-packed for home assembly. Each product page states which, along with the number of cartons and the weight of the heaviest, and solid timber chests are heavy, so check the route to the room before delivery.

Answers to common questions about chests of drawers.

Ask us a question

Do you sell a 12 drawer chest of drawers?

Yes. The Haldon 12 Drawer Chest has twelve equal drawers in three rows, with antiqued metal cup handles, and measures 170 cm wide × 40 cm deep × 88 cm high.

How much space do I need in front of a chest of drawers?

A drawer pulls out roughly as far as the chest is deep, so allow at least that much clear floor in front. Depths here run from 39 cm to 48 cm.

What do 2+2 and 2+3 mean?

They describe how the drawers are split between two rows: a 2+2 has four drawers in total and a 2+3 five. Where a chest comes in more than one layout, you choose it on the product page.

Do chests of drawers arrive assembled?

Some do — the Acorn solid oak chest arrives assembled — and others are flat-packed. Each product page states which.
