Privacy
Your privacy, clearly explained.
This page explains what personal information Lomond Furniture holds about you, why we hold it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It describes what this website actually does — measured in a browser and in the code, not copied from a template — and where something has not been settled yet, it says so.
- Only what we need We ask for what it takes to answer you or to deliver an order. Every other field on every form is optional.
- Nothing follows you No advertising pixels, no social embeds, no profiling, and nothing that recognises you between visits. We count how the site is used, in aggregate, and only if you accept cookies when we ask.
- Yours to control You can ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. One address handles all of it.

Who holds it
Lomond Furniture, the shop you are buying from, at 4 High Street, Leslie, Fife, KY6 3DA, United Kingdom. Central Systems build and run this website and the mailbox your enquiries arrive in, for us.
-
What we collect
What you type into a Customer Care or supplier enquiry. When ordering opens, what an order needs: a name, a delivery address, an email address and a telephone number.
-
Cookies
None until you answer the cookie question. Accept and two analytics cookies that end when you close the browser; the basket cookies come when you use it. No advertising and no tracking of any kind.
-
Card details
We never see them. When ordering opens, payment will be taken by a payment provider on its own systems, and we will never hold a card number.
-
Marketing
We send none. Writing to Customer Care does not put you on a mailing list, and our email list is not open yet.

This summary is for convenience. The numbered sections below are the full position.
What we collect, and why
Every route by which personal information reaches us, what we do with it, and the basis on which we are allowed to — the lawful bases are the ones set out in UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we hold Your name and email address, and whatever else you choose to give: an order number, which item it is about, the reason you are writing, and your message. Photographs, if you attach them to a report of damage or a fault.
Why To read your enquiry, reply to it, and deal with whatever it is about.
Lawful basis Contract, where the enquiry concerns an order you have placed or are about to place. Legitimate interests — answering the people who write to a shop — for a general question.
What we hold Your name, work email address and company, and — only if you offer them — a telephone number, a website, the categories you supply, how your goods usually reach the customer, links to a catalogue or trade price list, your message, and any catalogue or price list you attach.
Why To read your introduction, consider it, and reply if we want to take it further.
Lawful basis Legitimate interests — looking at what suppliers offer is how a shop assembles a range worth selling.
What we hold Our hosting provider records each request made to this site: the IP address it came from, the time, what was asked for, and the browser’s user-agent string. Separately, this site counts recent enquiries against a one-way hash of your IP address for one hour.
Why To keep the site available, to investigate faults, and to stop automated abuse of the enquiry form.
Lawful basis Legitimate interests — keeping the site secure, working and usable.
What we hold Google Analytics 4, used only to count how the site is used so we can improve it — numbers about pages rather than a file about you. The cookies end when you close your browser, so no visit is linked to another and nobody is recognised on their return. No advertising pixel, no social embed, no profiling, and no name, email or identifier of yours is sent.
Why To understand which parts of the shop are used, and to find what is not working, in aggregate.
Lawful basis Consent — asked for on your first visit, never assumed, and changed whenever you like from “Cookie settings”.
What we hold A reference held in your browser, and the items you have put in the basket, held on this website against that reference. No name, no address, nothing about you.
Why So the basket is still there when you move to the next page.
Lawful basis Contract — taking steps at your request before you order.
What we hold Your name, billing address, delivery address, email address and telephone number; what you bought and what you paid; the delivery service that applied; any note you leave us; and what happens afterwards — dispatch, delivery, a return, a refund.
Why To take your order, arrange the delivery, and handle returns, refunds and questions afterwards.
Lawful basis Contract. Legal obligation for the parts that have to be kept as business and tax records.
What we hold We never receive your card number. The payment provider takes the payment on its own systems and tells us whether it succeeded, with a reference for the transaction.
Why To be paid for your order, and to give you a refund against the same payment if one is due.
Lawful basis Contract.
What we hold You will be able to order as a guest. If you would rather create an account while you order, it holds your name, email address, your saved addresses and your order history. Your password is kept only as a one-way hash and cannot be read by us or by anyone else.
Why So you do not have to type your address again next time.
Lawful basis Contract.
Who is responsible for your information
Lomond Furniture is the shop you are buying from. Our trading address is 4 High Street, Leslie, Fife, KY6 3DA, United Kingdom.
This website, and the mailbox your Customer Care and supplier enquiries arrive in, are built and run for us by Central Systems, the agency that maintains this shop. They handle your information to operate the site and to put your enquiry in front of the person who can answer it, and for no purpose of their own.
Where your information comes from
Almost all of it comes from you: what you type into a form on this site, or what you send us by email.
A small amount is generated automatically as you use the site — the request records our hosting provider keeps, and the basket reference your browser is given once you put something in the basket.
We do not buy personal information, and we do not collect it from social media, data brokers or any other outside source.
Customer Care, returns and complaints
Customer Care is one form with several routes — an order or delivery question, a return or refund, a problem or complaint, a product question, and a general enquiry. Whichever you use, we ask for a name and an email address so we know who we are replying to and where to reply. Everything else on the form is optional, including the order number.
If you are reporting damage or a fault you can attach photographs. They are sent with your enquiry, are not published anywhere on this site, and are not added to the site’s media library.
Your enquiry is emailed to the people who deal with it, and you are sent an acknowledgement so that you know it arrived. Neither message is saved into this website’s database, and sending an enquiry does not create a customer record.
We use what you tell us to answer you and to sort out what you wrote about. We do not use it for anything else.
Supplier and trade enquiries
The Suppliers & Trade page carries a separate form for businesses. It needs your name, a work email address and your company; the telephone number, website, categories, delivery arrangements, catalogue and price-list links, message and attachments are all offered rather than required.
It goes to the same mailbox, by the same route, and is handled the same way: read, considered, and replied to if we want to take it further. Files you attach travel with the message and are not added to this website.
A supplier introduction is not marketing data. We do not put trade contacts on a mailing list, and we do not pass your details to anyone else.
Orders, delivery and payment
The shop is not open for orders yet, so none of this is happening today. It is set out here so that it is already true on the day it starts.
To take an order we will need your name, your billing address, the delivery address, an email address and a telephone number — the last because a furniture delivery has to be arranged with somebody who can answer the door. The order record also holds what you bought, what you paid, which delivery service applied, any note you leave us, and what happens to the order afterwards.
You will be able to order as a guest. You will also be able to create an account while ordering if you want your addresses and order history kept for next time.
We will not see your card details. Payment will be taken by a payment provider on its own systems; what comes back to us is whether it succeeded and a reference for the transaction. We will never store a card number.
Cookies, and what this site puts in your browser
Nothing until you answer the cookie question. Accept and two analytics cookies appear, both ending when you close the browser; decline and none does. No local storage and no session storage anywhere, either way. Re-measured in a browser on 6 September 2026 across the home page, the shop, a category, a product page, Customer Care, the basket and the checkout.
One company is involved, and only if you accept analytics: Google, who provide it. There is no advertising pixel, no social embed and no profiling, and the typefaces are served from this website rather than from Google. Decline and nothing at all is fetched from anybody else.
That changes the moment you put something in the basket. The shop then sets three cookies so that the basket survives to the next page: one holding a reference to your basket, one recording that the basket is not empty, and one holding a short code that changes when the contents change. None of them carries your name, your address or anything about you. If you are not signed in, the first expires two days after your last visit and the other two end when you close the browser.
Those three are exempt from needing your consent, because they are strictly necessary to provide the shop you asked for — Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, Schedule A1 paragraph 4. The analytics is not exempt, which is why it is asked for on your first visit rather than assumed, and why declining changes nothing about how the shop works.
Who else sees your information
Central Systems, who build and run this website and operate the mailbox your enquiries arrive in. They act on our instructions and for no purpose of their own.
The company that hosts this website, on whose servers it and its database sit, and whose systems keep the request records described above.
When ordering opens: the supplier whose warehouse your furniture leaves from and the delivery service bringing it, both of whom need your name, delivery address and telephone number in order to deliver it; and the payment provider taking the payment.
Professional advisers — an accountant, for instance — where they need to see business records that include order information.
Anyone we are legally obliged to give it to, such as a regulator or a court. We do not hand over customer information because somebody has asked for it.
We do not sell your information, we do not share it for anybody else’s marketing, and no advertising network has any access to this site.
Where your information is held
This website runs on shared hosting whose network address is allocated in Europe and locates to France, so your information is processed inside the European Economic Area rather than only in the United Kingdom. We have measured that rather than been told it, and we are confirming it with the hosting provider.
The United Kingdom has made adequacy regulations covering every EEA country, which means information may move from the UK to them without any further safeguard being needed. Nothing here is processed outside the UK or the EEA.
How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as there is a reason to, and then stop. The reason differs by what it is, so a single period across everything would be an invented number rather than a policy.
A Customer Care enquiry is kept while it is being dealt with and for a period afterwards long enough to handle it coming back — a return, a repeat fault, or a complaint about how it was handled.
Order records are kept for as long as the law requires business and tax records to be kept, and for as long as a claim about the order could still be made.
Supplier enquiries are kept while we are considering them and for as long as the introduction is still relevant.
The hosting provider’s request records are kept on its own rolling basis and are not retained by us separately. The one-hour count used to limit enquiry submissions deletes itself after an hour.
The exact periods are being set alongside the accounting arrangements for the business, and this page will state them once they are.
Marketing email
Our email list is not open yet, so no marketing email is sent at all today. When it opens, this is how it will work — and none of it happens without you doing something first.
Joining is optional and completely separate from having an account. Creating a Lomond account, placing an order, joining Lomond Rewards and claiming reward points do not subscribe you to anything.
The box is never ticked for you. You tick it yourself, and then you confirm by clicking a link in an email we send to that address — so nobody can put somebody else on the list, and an address you gave us to ask a question is never moved onto it.
We keep a record of what you agreed to: the exact wording you were shown, when you agreed, and which page you asked from. That record is how we can show the consent was real, and it is the reason we ask rather than assume.
Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link that works without an account and without a password. Leaving takes one click.
Leaving does not affect your account, your orders, or any Lomond Points you have earned — including points awarded for joining the list in the first place. Withdrawing consent is a right, not something we charge you for.
Email about an order or your account — a confirmation, a dispatch note, a password reset, a message about your reward points — is not marketing. It is part of the service you asked for, and it is sent whether or not you are on the list.
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anybody else’s marketing.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you; to correct it if it is wrong; to delete it; to stop or limit what we do with it; to object to us using it where we are relying on our legitimate interests; and, where we hold it to perform a contract with you, to have it sent to you or to someone else in a machine-readable form.
Some of these depend on the circumstances. We cannot delete an order record we are legally required to keep, for instance, and where a right does not apply we will tell you why rather than simply refusing.
The one thing we rely on your consent for is the optional analytics cookies described in the Cookie Policy, and you can withdraw that whenever you like using the Cookie settings link at the foot of any page. If we open an email list, joining it will be a separate consent you can withdraw the same way.
Exercising any of this is free, and asking costs you nothing.
Complaining
If you think we have got something wrong with your personal information, tell us first — it is usually the quickest way to have it put right. You can use the Customer Care form or write to us directly.
We will acknowledge a complaint about your personal information within 30 days of receiving it, look into it, keep you informed while we do, and tell you the outcome. That is what the law now requires of us: section 164A of the Data Protection Act 2018, in force since 19 June 2026.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk. You do not have to come to us first, and nothing on this page takes that right away.
Keeping your information safe
The site is served over an encrypted connection throughout, so what you type into a form is not readable in transit.
We hold no card details at any point, which removes the most damaging thing a furniture shop could lose.
Files you attach to an enquiry are checked by what the bytes actually are rather than by what they are called, are never written into the site’s public files, and are deleted from the server as soon as the message carrying them has gone.
The enquiry form is protected against automated abuse, and the site runs a deliberately small amount of third-party software — fewer moving parts is itself a security measure.
No security is perfect. If something did go wrong in a way that put you at risk, we would tell you and we would tell the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
This is a furniture shop. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. That date is taken from the moment the page was last edited rather than typed in by hand, so it cannot say one thing while the page says another.
If we ever change something that materially affects what happens to information we already hold about you, we will do more than update the date — we will tell you.
