A king size mattress measures 150 cm by 200 cm. In the imperial naming the trade still uses, that is 5ft. It is the first UK size to gain length as well as width: 10 cm longer than a double and 15 cm wider. Will one fit your room?
Every frame here holds the same 150 cm mattress, but the frames themselves differ in width. Plan with the frame dimension on each product page. Measure your wall and subtract the frame width given on the product page. Do the same for depth against the 200 cm length — which is longer than the smaller sizes, and catches people out in a short room.
King Size mattresses and bedding
Any king size mattress fits any of these frames. That is what the size name guarantees: 150 × 200 cm is a standard, not a description. Bedding is the exception people forget. King Size sheets and duvets are cut for the longer 200 cm mattress, so bedding from a smaller bed will not fit even though it may look close on the shelf. Depth is the one dimension that is not standardised. It changes how high the finished bed sits and how the mattress looks against the frame.
